HORSEBACK RIDING
Horseback riding is a popular activity at our ranch, and we have an
excellent string of horses. We have gentle horses, for beginners and
young
children that are dependable and patient, and we also have horses that
experienced riders will appreciate. We ride in Rocky Mountain National
Park and Roosevelt National Forest and take one- and two-hour rides,
half-day rides (packing our lunch) and overnight packtrips. Our wine
and cheese rides for adults are always popular, and we have rides for kids
only. Our rides are over trails high in the mountains through some of
the most spectacular scenery on this continent. You can sign up for
the rides you wish to take each day except Sunday. Overnight packtrips
are very popular with guests. As with all of our horseback riding,
there is no extra charge for these trips, and we furnish everything
including sleeping bags. Guests enjoy the riding, scenery, and
comradeship around the evening campfires on these trips. Most of our
guests are from large metropolitan areas, and though most have done little
or no riding, have enjoyed riding at our ranch. Age need not be a
handicap either because we have had guests in their 70's, as well as very
small youngsters enjoy our rides. Our wranglers who are guides on our
rides are well experienced young men and women who are happy to teach guests
how to ride and handle their horses comfortably. Please see our head
wrangler on your arrival to arrange any special rides. They will make
every effort to help you enjoy your riding and overnight packtrips so that
these rides will be an experience you will always remember. We are an
equal opportunity employer and provider, authorized by special use permit to
operate on the Roosevelt National Forest and Rocky Mountain National Park. |

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK
Rocky
Mountain National Park straddles the Continental Divide and has 412 square
miles of some of the most beautiful scenery in the U.S. You will
marvel at its beauty! It has 68 peaks above 12,000 feet, with some of
its highest peaks over 14,000 feet high. They rise up just west of us
that you can see from your dining room. Dominating the part is Longs
Peak, 14,256 feet high just west of our ranch which can easily be seen from
Denver 67 miles away. You will see forests of pine, aspen, blue spruce
and fir, over 750 varieties of dazzling wildflowers, plunging streams,
waterfalls, small natural mountain lakes, and even some glaciers. The
wildlife, which is
protected, includes elk, deer, bighorn sheep, coyote, beaver, black bear,
and over 250 varieties of birds. Despite the rugged terrain, the park is
easily accessible with over 300 miles
of trails. Some of its splendor you will see from Trail Ridge Road which
crosses the Continental Divide and is the highest continuous highway in the
U.S. But to experience the scenic wonderland to the fullest, join our
guests in riding horseback, hiking, and fishing while at our ranch. |

WHITEWATER RAFTING (EXTRA)
The
rafting picture to the right was taken on the Poudre River
where we take our rafting trips. These trips are one of our most popular
activities for guests age eight and above. This summer you can
experience whitewater rafting on the Poudre River. Each run has a guide,
and every guest has a paddle. Often everyone is paddling furiously and at
other times just drifting with the current with time to enjoy the view. You
will enjoy the thrill of fast rapids, the views of steep canyon walls, and
the excitement of seeing wildlife such as deer, elk, beaver, hawks, eagles
and water fowl. |

HIKING
Our scenic and diverse hiking program becomes more popular each year.
Our three guides with over fifty years experience will lead you to some of the
most spectacular areas in Rocky Mountain National Park. Our guides are
well versed in flora and fauna, history, and local lore of the region.
Hikes range from easy, moderate, and even a challenging one towards the end of
the week. We also offer an informative and fun photography hike each week.
Join us for fun and fitness on our breathtaking hikes!
Guided Trout Fishing
This area of Colorado is as famous for its trout fishing as it is for its magnificent scenery. For ease of use, we use spin cast rods and flies that have been designed by our guides. If you wish, our chef will prepare your catch. We offer family fishing in three local lakes for rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout. For the experienced fly fisherman trips may be arranged in nearby rivers and streams. |
